52 Week Photography Challenge - Week 10

Week 10

Vision: Selective Color

I know, I know. Yuck. Selective color can be cringeworthy, however, when done right, it brings compelling focus to the subject.

Camera Canon 6D with the 24-70 f/2.8 that apparently is stuck to my camera.

Settings:

  • Shutter speed: 1/60 sec
  • Aperture: f/2.8
  • ISO: 1250
  • Focal length: 38mm

I pretty much agree with the description of the prompt this week..."yuck". I'm not a fan of color selection and it seems pretty gimmicky. Anyway, that's the prompt this week, so that's what I did.

I had a difficult time thinking of things to photograph to select the color. The perfect opportunity presented itself when Daniel wanted to make cookies with mommy. Of course they had to have colorful icing!

I had a lot of fun photographing them making the cookies and Daniel LOVED standing at the counter and helping. He really enjoys helping with nearly everything.

Enjoy the photo and let's hope there isn't another color selection prompt down the road!

Here are some more photos from the week!

Of course if you make cookies you HAVE to lick the beater!

I got a new camera recently to keep in my pocket and carry around easier than my big 6D. I've been playing with it and this is one of the photos from that camera.

LOOK HOW EXCITED HE IS TO HELP!

MMMM...never too much icing!

Have a great week!
